Pauleta backs PSG coach Antoine Kambouare

Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Pauleta backs under-fire coach Antoine Kambouare.

Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Pauleta has backed under-fire coach Antoine Kambouare.

There have been rumours that the club's Qatari owners are ready to dismiss Kambouare, despite the fact the club sit second in Ligue 1.

It was reported on Sunday evening that PSG had indeed sacked Kambouare to pave the way for Rafael Benitez, but the Frenchman remains in charge for now.

"Changing a coach, it would not be normal. He has done a good job. He can take the team far. We must give him time and let him work quietly and calmly," said Pauleta.

"Although Montpellier, Lille and Lyon are going strong, PSG are above the lot. I see PSG as champions."

Kambouare was appointed coach of PSG in 2009.
