Paris Saint-Germain reach the knockout stages of the Champions League thanks to a thumping 5-0 win over Anderlecht at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

Paris Saint-Germain have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League thanks to a thumping 5-0 win over Anderlecht at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

The Ligue 1 giants dominated the encounter from the off and were rewarded for their efforts with the opening goal on the half-hour mark.

Kylian Mbappe worked a reverse pass to find Marco Verratti on the left side of the box, and the Italian cut inside onto his right foot before rifling beyond the reach of Frank Boeckx.

Despite a brief fightback from Anderlecht, Neymar doubled the hosts' lead four minutes into first-half stoppage time as he cut inside, weaved past Adrien Trebel, and curled a shot past the goalkeeper.

The result of the encounter was put beyond doubt just six minutes into the second half, with a free kick touched onto the post by Boeckx and pounced upon by Layvin Kurzawa, who tapped home on the rebound.

There was yet more time for PSG to further run riot against Anderlecht, with Kurzawa completing a memorable hat-trick thanks to a diving header in the 72nd minute and a drilled finish six minutes later.

Unai Emery's side have won all four of their Group B games so far, scoring 17 goals and conceding none.
