The Sweden international scored the opening goal in PSG's 2-1 home win against Olympiacos on Wednesday to take his tally to eight strikes in five matches this campaign.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid also has eight goals to his name in Europe's premier club competition this season.
Ruud van Nistelrooy (2004-05), Hernan Crespo (2002-03) and Filippo Inzaghi (2002-03) are the other three players who share the record.
