Portsmouth have reportedly turned down an application from former players Hermann Hreidarsson and David James for the vacant manager's role.
The League Two side have been without a manager since the dismissal of Guy Whittingham in November.
Hreidarsson, who is currently manager of Icelandic club IBV, is said to have applied for the job at Fratton Park, with James as his assistant.
The pair helped the South Coast club to win the FA Cup in 2008.
However, the club have ruled Hreidarsson out of the running, according to Sports Direct News.
Former Crawley Town manager Richie Barker is the bookmakers' favourite to succeed Whittingham.
