Port Vale boss Micky Adams has praised his side for their 'morale-boosting' win over West Bromwich Albion in pre-season.
The League One club saw off their Premier League opponents on Tuesday with a late 3-2 victory at Vale Park.
While admitting that friendly results do not always matter, Adams is pleased with the attitude that his players showed during the match.
"It was certainly a morale booster, but you can get carried away with pre-season results," he told Vale's official website.
"The one thing we got right here was our attitude to the game. Although we have to remember there are no points on it, it shows me that we're there or thereabouts now."
Port Vale play their first match of the season on Saturday when they entertain Walsall.
