George Boyd has rejected a new contract offer from Peterborough United and appears to be close to leaving the club.
The 25-year-old's reluctance to sign a new deal at London Road means that he will be placed on the transfer list this summer.
Director of football Barry Fry told the club's website: "We have said before that any player who rejects a contract when they have just 12 months to run on their existing deal would be sold.
"It is good business sense to do that. To be fair to George, he has been a fantastic servant to this football club and we obviously wouldn't begrudge him a move because of that.
"However, as with other players, it has to be the right price for this football club."
Boyd has netted eight goals so far this season.
