Go Ahead Eagles see off PEC Zwolle in hot-tempered derby

PEC Zwolle succumb to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of local rivals Go Ahead Eagles in their Eredivisie clash at the IJsseldelta Stadion.

PEC Zwolle have succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of local rivals Go Ahead Eagles in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the IJsseldelta Stadion.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Jeffrey Rijsdijk played a one-two with Deniz Turuc before firing past Warner Hahn.

Just before half time, Turuc nearly doubled his side's lead when he sent a shot towards the far post, but the Zwolle goalkeeper was able to pull off the save this time.

Stefan Nijland then cost Zwolle when he was sent off in the 51st minute for charging towards opposition player Jop van der Linden and striking him.

The hosts came close to equalising when Mustafa Saymak's chip bounced off the bar, but Go Ahead were able to hang on for a pleasing derby win.
