Palermo insist Federico Balzaretti is not for sale despite interest

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini insists that defender Federico Balzaretti is not for sale, despite reported interest from a host of leading Italian clubs.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has insisted that defender Federico Balzaretti is not for sale, despite reported interest from a host of leading Italian clubs.

The full-back played a key role in Italy's penalties victory over England in last night's Euro 2012 quarter-final, and Zamparini told Gazetta dello Sport his player was not for sale.

"Balzaretti will not leave," he said. "He will remain at Palermo."

Napoli, Lazio and Milan have all been credited with an interest in Balzaretti, who has a year remaining on his Palermo contract.
