Oxford United sign former Bournemouth goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel

Oxford United bring in Liechtenstein goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel on a deal until the end of the season.

Oxford United have signed Liechtenstein goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel until the end of the season, subject to a medical.

The 26-year-old was released by Bournemouth at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

Buchel has won nine caps for his country since 2008.

"He's a good keeper who we've seen play for Bournemouth and been very impressed," Oxford boss Michael Appleton told the club's official website. "Sam Slocombe has done ever so well but we want him to be pushed all the way and bringing Benji into the club will certainly do that."

Oxford return to League Two action on Sunday when they make the trip to Bristol Rovers.
