Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce: 'I will seek answers over player sales'

Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce insists that he will look for answers over why two players were sold to Newcastle United without his backing.

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has insisted that he will seek answers over why two of his players were sold to Newcastle United.

Although neither club have officially announced a deal, Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow have been linked with a transfer to the Magpies for £7m, with the Reds boss admitting that he is unhappy with their proposed sale.

Pearce has said that while he wants answers from chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi, he is fully committed to his job at Forest.

"This can be overcome," he told the Nottingham Post. "But I am not prepared to fluff things when it comes to what was said and done behind the scenes. Two players were sold against my will.

"I am not prepared to walk away from this club, because I love the club too much and I love the fans.

"On top of that, I am enjoying working with the players and staff, a lot of whom we have brought in. I owe a loyalty to those people. So that [walking away] has never crossed my mind."

Reports have suggested that Pearce only found out about the deal when Lascelles told him that he was travelling to Newcastle for a medical.
