Huddersfield Town want Jamie Paterson stay

Huddersfield Town are eager to sign Nottingham Forest striker James Paterson on a permanent deal, a club official confirms.

Huddersfield Town's head of football operations Stuart Webber has revealed that the club are keen to tie Jamie Paterson down to permanent terms.

The attacker is currently in the middle of a season-long loan stint at the John Smith's Stadium from Nottingham Forest.

However, if a deal can be struck, the Terriers would like Paterson to remain with them for the long term.

"He would like to stay and, if the deal is right, we would like to keep him," Webber told the Huddersfield Examiner.

"Another club is involved of course in Forest, the player is involved and the agent is involved. It is perceived these deals are easy, but the better the player is, the harder it is, and people have to recognise that.

"We feel Jamie can do better as well, he is not the finished article, but we would like to keep him if the opportunity arises, that's for sure."

Paterson has scored five goals from his 21 appearances for Huddersfield.
