Nottingham Forest are through to the second round of the Carling Cup after a penalties victory over local rivals Notts County.
The sides stood even at half time, Mike Edwards opening proceedings with a goal for County in the 16th minute. Lewis McGugan equalised 15 minutes later, direct from a free kick conceded by Krystian Pearce.
Robbie Findley put the Tricky Trees ahead for the first time after 56 minutes, but Craig Westcarr ensured extra time in the 76th.
Lee Hughes propelled the League One outfit ahead again in the seventh minute of extra time but Wes Morgan scored an unlikely equaliser during added time beyond 120 minutes, heralding a shoot-out finale.
The result was finally sealed when Neal Bishop missed the target during sudden death.
The Reds' next opponents will be revealed on Thursday, August 11.
