David Beckham: 'FIFA revelations despicable, unacceptable, and awful'

Former England captain David Beckham condemns FIFA over its latest corruption scandal.

David Beckham has weighed in on the FIFA corruption scandal, describing the revelations about the governing body as "despicable".

The former Manchester United and England star said that he is hopeful the organisation can now be reformed following the resignation of president Sepp Blatter.

"Whilst it has not been good to read some of the headlines surrounding our sport recently, I hope at last we are now moving in the right direction," he told Sky Sports News.

"Some of the things that we now know happened, were despicable, unacceptable and awful for the game we love so much.

"Football is not owned by a few individuals at the top. It is time for FIFA to change. Some of the things we now know happened were despicable, unacceptable and awful for the game we love so much."

FIFA whistleblower Chuck Blazer's guilty plea to corruption charges was recently published by US prosecutors, revealing admissions of racketeering and bribery surrounding the selection of World Cup host nations.
