Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini ban appeals rejected by FIFA appeals committee

Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini have their appeals against 90-day provisional bans rejected by FIFA's appeal committee.

The FIFA appeal committee has rejected the appeals from both Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini against their provisional 90-day bans.

Outgoing FIFA president Blatter and UEFA chief Platini were both provisionally suspended last month by FIFA's ethics committee over a £1.3m payment made to Platini in 2011 for work said to be carried out almost a decade previously.

In a statement this morning, FIFA confirmed that both men had been unsuccessful in their appeals.

FIFA added that the adjudicatory chamber of the ethics committee was still completing its investigation, so the bans could still be revoked or amended once their review is complete.

If Blatter and Platini still wish to contest their suspensions, their last option is to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
