Newcastle United recall Mike Williamson from Wolverhampton Wanderers loan

Newcastle United recall centre-back Mike Williamson from his loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers to provide cover for the injured Jamaal Lascelles.

Newcastle United have recalled defender Mike Williamson from his loan spell at Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 32-year-old initially joined Wolves on a month-long loan in October, but that deal was extended last month to run until January.

However, Newcastle have now activated a recall clause to bring Williamson back as cover for the injured Jamaal Lascelles, who sustained a minor hamstring problem in Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Williamson played the full 90 minutes in five Championship matches for Wolves, helping the Black Country side keep clean sheets in three.
