Newcastle United will reportedly move for wantaway Aston Villa striker Darren Bent in a cut-price £6m deal.

Newcastle United are poised to make a £6m bid to sign wantaway Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, according to a report.

The England international saw his first-team opportunities limited last season due to the form of Christian Benteke.

Bent admitted that he may need to seek a move away from Villa Park to find regular football and now the Magpies are ready to swoop with a cut-price £6m offer, reports The Telegraph.

The 29-year-old moved to the Villans from Sunderland in 2011 for a reported £24m.
