Newcastle United have reportedly decided to pay a club-record fee in order to sign Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron.
The Magpies have been frequently linked with a move for the Paraguay international, but it had been suggested that a move would not materialise during the January window.
However, according to Sky Sports News, Newcastle have now made the breakthrough in negotiations with the MLS side and appear on course to sign the 25-year-old.
The report claims that Almiron is currently travelling to England in order to finalise the transfer before the end of the month.
Almiron enjoyed a terrific campaign with Atlanta last year, with 13 goals and 11 assists being recorded from 37 appearances.
