Alan Pardew: 'I'm the right man for Newcastle United'

Alan Pardew insists that he is still the right man to manage Newcastle United after the club's recent poor form.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that he is still the best man to lead the club, despite unrest among supporters.

The Magpies were booed off the field after losing 4-0 at home to Manchester United on Saturday, which was the team's third Premier League defeat in a row.

Pardew's position has been called into question by some supporters, but when asked if he felt that he was the right man for the job, the Newcastle boss told the Shields Gazette: "Yes, absolutely. But the only thing I'm focused on, if I'm honest, is [our next game against] Stoke. Nothing more, because every game is essential for us, especially on the back of those three performances.

"The opposition have been quality, but let's be honest, we've been a distance away. We need to close that gap, but that's a question for the summer."

Newcastle travel to Stoke City on Saturday.
