New York City FC head coach Patrick Vieira has reportedly offered Ashley Cole the chance to reignite his career in the MLS.
The former England international has been frozen out at Roma, who are thought to be prepared to let him leave the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer.
News of the 34-year-old's potential availability is said to have alerted Manchester United and Aston Villa, both of whom need cover in the left-back position because of injuries to Luke Shaw and Jordan Amavi respectively.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the chance to link up with his former Arsenal teammate Vieira in New York could be Cole's most attractive option.
Were Cole to make the switch, he would also be reunited with Frank Lampard following the pair's stint together at Chelsea.
