Patrick Vieira 'flattered' by speculation linking him to other clubs

Patrick Vieira insists that he is happy in charge of New York City FC, but is 'flattered' by speculation linking him to other clubs.

Patrick Vieira has admitted that he feels 'flattered' to be linked to other managerial positions, but insists that he is focused on the job at hand at New York City FC.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who spent two years working with Manchester City's academy, has been in charge of the MLS club since the start of the 2016 season.

Vieira managed to guide the team to the playoffs for the first time and also oversaw the club earn 17 points more than the previous campaign.

The 40-year-old was recently linked to the vacancy at Southampton and Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne, but he indicates that he wants to remain in the United States.

"I've been in the game for quite a long time, and my head and my mind is really focused on what I want to achieve and what I'm trying to achieve with New York City FC," Vieira told Goal.com.

"It's always flattering - I don't say it's not. It's always flattering to be linked with clubs, but at the end I know where my head is."

New York City finished fourth overall in the 2016 campaign.
