New England have chosen Louisville defender Andrew Farrell as their first pick in the MLS SuperDraft in Indianapolis.
The Massachusetts-based club were given the first pick of the draft after Toronto FC traded the top spot for fourth pick and funds.
Farrell was expected to be the number one option for the majority of the MLS sides in the draft following his impressive trial at Combine, which pits college players, invited youth internationals and Generation Adidas players against each other in a five-day competition.
Meanwhile, Chivas USA, who were handed the second pick of the draft, opted for Carlos Alvarez as expected, as the club try to build up their team with players of American-Mexican heritage.
