A hamstring injury is threatening to hamper Joris Mathijsen's participation at Euro 2012 with Holland.

Joris Mathijsen has all but been ruled out of Holland's Euro 2012 opener against Denmark on Saturday evening.

The 32-year-old defender is currently nursing a hamstring complaint that he picked up during a recent training session.

As a result, coach Bert van Marwijk has admitted that he is "80%" certain that the Malaga centre-back will play no part against the Danes.

Reports have also claimed that the problem could force Mathijsen to withdraw from the Dutch squad altogether.

His place in the starting lineup is expected to be handed to former Aston Villa defender Wilfred Bouma.
