Holland attacker Dirk Kuyt has revealed his frustration at his substitute's role at Euro 2012.
The 31-year-old, who recently joined Turkish side Fenerbahce, has previously been a key component of the Dutch starting lineup.
However, more recently has been forced to settle for a place on the bench, with Barcelona's Ibrahim Afellay preferred in his position.
"You never get used to being a substitute. It's a huge disappointment again every time you hear you're not starting," Kuyt told the KNVB website.
"I'm doing my utmost on the training pitch to show that I'm ready for it, but it's the coach who makes the decision in the end.
"You have to get over the disappointment, because we need all the players."
Kuyt played for eight minutes as Holland lost their opening game of the tournament 1-0 against Denmark on Saturday afternoon.
