Jermaine Pennant could reportedly make a surprise switch to Coppa Italia winners Napoli and reunite with former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez this summer.
According to The Mirror, the 31-year-old is being mooted as a possible target by the Spaniard, who worked with Pennant for three years during his time at Anfield.
Napoli may have to recruit a wide player in the transfer window, if Italian international Lorenzo Insigne opts to move away from the San Paolo, with Arsenal among the clubs linked with his signature.
Benitez is said to view Pennant as a good option if he is in the right frame of mind, with the winger rumoured to have a sports psychologist to help improve his attitude.
The former Reds midfielder, who played in their 2007 Champions League Final defeat to AC Milan, was released by Stoke City last season.
