Napoli slam Gonzalo Higuain reports

Napoli hit back at claims from Gonzalo Higuain's agent that they would be willing to sell him for £35m.

Napoli have responded to comments from Gonzalo Higuain's agent by once again suggesting that the striker will not leave for a fee below his release clause.

Nicolas Higuain, the brother and agent of the Argentine forward, recently claimed that president Aurelio De Laurentiis was speaking about the release clause in an attempt to attract clubs.

However, the Serie A side have hit back at the agent with a series of angry posts on Twitter.

The statement read: "On June 25 we announced that the release clause on Higuain's contract was €94.736m (£66.7m).

"Why did we do this? Because some important newspapers were writing that we were negotiating to sell Gonzalo for €50m (£35.2m).

"It is strange that some experienced journalists don't understand such a simple concept and do not guide those who are perhaps distracted."

Higuain scored 29 goals in all competitions last season.
