Middlesbrough are reportedly planning to make an £8m bid for Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome once the transfer window reopens.
The 29-year-old, who scored against Boro in last season's Championship playoff final, is said to have been singled out as the Smoggies' first-choice attacking target.
However, according to The Sun, Norwich are themselves looking to strengthen their squad in the New Year and will therefore hold out for the highest offer possible.
Jerome has an impressive scoring record for the Canaries, finding the net 23 times in his 45 starts for the East Anglian outfit, including two goals this term against Bournemouth and Manchester City.
Boro spent close to a combined £7m to lure David Nugent and Christian Stuani to the Riverside in the summer, while Kike and Diego Fabbrini are also on their books.
