Aitor Karanka to resume Middlesbrough duties

Middlesbrough announce that Aitor Karanka is to resume his managerial duties with immediate effect.

Aitor Karanka has kept hold of his job as Middlesbrough head coach.

The Spaniard's future at the Riverside Stadium had been in doubt ever since he supposedly stormed out of training on Friday following a bust-up with the players.

Those rumours intensified further when the 42-year-old failed to attend yesterday's 2-0 defeat away at struggling Charlton Athletic.

However, following a series of discussions, the Championship side have confirmed that Karanka is to return to his duties.

"Middlesbrough Football Club can confirm that head coach Aitor Karanka will be resuming first-team duties with the club with immediate effect," read a statement on the club's official website.

"We have 10 games left this season and as a club we are fully focussed on what remains of our Championship campaign."

Boro are currently second in the table, two points better off than third-placed Hull City.
