Steve Agnew leaves Hull City for Middlesbrough assistant role

Middlesbrough name former Hull City assistant Steve Agnew as their new assistant head coach.

Hull City assistant manager Steve Agnew has left the club to join Championship side Middlesbrough as assistant head coach to Aitor Karanka.

The 49-year-old former Barnsley, Leicester City and Sunderland midfielder had been with the Tigers for two-and-a-half years.

He joined Hull from Boro back in 2012 after a spell as reserve manager and assistant, also managing the club briefly as caretaker following the departure of Gordon Strachan in 2010.

Karanka had been without an assistant since the departure of Craig Hignett earlier this month.
