Marcelo Bielsa has resigned from his position as the manager of Marseille after the club's first Ligue 1 match of the season.
Les Phoceens had opened their new campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Caen, before the Argentine announced that he was stepping down from his role.
Bielsa had only joined the French outfit last year and he guided the club to a fourth-placed finish in the league during his first season in charge.
"I have finished my work here. I will return to my home country," said Bielsa in a letter written to the club's president, which was read out during a press conference.
Bielsa has previously enjoyed spells in charge of Argentina, Chile and Athletic Bilbao.
