On the 20-year anniversary of Marseille's only Champions League triumph, Ghanaian forward Andre Ayew has revealed how his father still speaks of beating AC Milan in Munich.
Abedi Pele played a vital role in Les Phoceens' victory in the 1993 final, supplying the cross for Basile Boli to score the only goal of the game just before the break.
Ayew, 23, believes that the achievements of that team has made Marseille the club it is today.
"I was very young; I was above three years but my father has narrated the event to me and this has stuck in my memory," he told the club's official website.
"He also talked a lot about the 1991 final and this shows that the OM is a historical and legendary club."
Ayew came through the youth ranks at the Stade Velodrome, making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2007.
