Mansfield Town register goalkeeper Liam Mitchell

Former Notts County goalkeeper Liam Mitchell signs a non-contract registration form with Mansfield Town.

Mansfield Town have signed former Notts County goalkeeper Liam Mitchell on a non-contract basis.

The 20-year-old is likely to be on the bench for the Stags during Saturday's trip to Wycombe Wanderers, as back-up stopper Ian Deakin is ruled out with a dislocated shoulder.

Manager Paul Cox told the club's official website: "After Ian's unfortunate injury, we have had to make sure that we are adequately covered.

"Liam did well for us last season and has a good pedigree. He will give us both cover and competition for the goalkeeper's jersey."

Mitchell made three starts for Mansfield last season while on loan from County, who released him last month.
