Saturday's League One predictions including Mansfield vs. Birmingham

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Mansfield vs. Birmingham.

Mansfield vs. Birmingham (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Looking to spring a surprise in the race for promotion to the Championship, Mansfield Town will welcome league leaders Birmingham City to One Call Stadium for a League One clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Stags come into this weekend's battle following an away win on Tuesday night, whilst pacesetting Blues made lightwork of Bolton Wanderers in the Second City.

We say: Mansfield Town 1-2 Birmingham City

Despite being a newly-promoted side, Mansfield are set to pose a major threat on Saturday afternoon following their stellar start to the League One campaign.

Birmingham will dominate the ball at One Call Stadium and with Stansfield potentially returning to the XI, they should be able to record their third league success on the bounce.

Reading vs. Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Reading will try to claim a third consecutive victory when they welcome Bristol Rovers to the Select Car Stadium for Saturday's League One contest.

The visitors will be looking to secure a second straight win after getting the better of Shrewsbury Town in midweek.

We say: Reading 3-1 Bristol Rovers

Reading have won five of their six home league games this season, while Bristol Rovers have lost four of their last five away matches in the third tier.

With that in mind, we think that the Royals will make full use of home advantage to take all three points from Saturday's fixture.

Bolton vs. Peterborough (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Bolton Wanderers will be looking to bounce back from a midweek defeat when they play host to Peterborough United in Saturday's League One encounter.

In contrast to their hosts, Peterborough will be in high spirits after sweeping past Blackpool in Tuesday's home outing.

We say: Bolton Wanderers 2-1 Peterborough United

Bolton may have experienced disappointment in their midweek away clash with Birmingham, but they have won two of their last three home league games, and we think that they will claim another home win against a Peterborough side that have lost each of their previous three away matches.

Cambridge vs. Burton Albion (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Managerless Burton Albion will travel to Abbey Stadium for Saturday's League One clash with relegation rivals Cambridge United.

The hosts are languishing at the foot of the League One table, while the visitors are just three points better off in 23rd place.

We say: Cambridge United 2-1 Burton Albion

Cambridge will have a renewed sense of belief after recording back-to-back victories, and we think they will continue to build momentum by claiming a narrow home victory to condemn their relegation rivals to a seventh consecutive league defeat.

Charlton vs. Wrexham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Wrexham will attempt to extend their three-game unbeaten league run when they travel to the Valley for Saturday's clash with Charlton Athletic.

The Red Dragons are sitting in second place in the League One table, while the visitors will head into the weekend in 11th position.

We say: Charlton Athletic 2-2 Wrexham

Wrexham may be sitting in second place, but they have won only one of their last four away league games, and we think they may have to settle for a point when they face a Charlton side that have drawn their previous two matches against Stockport and Barnsley.

Huddersfield vs. Exeter (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sitting level on 19 points in the top six of the League One table, Huddersfield Town and Exeter City will do battle in an important contest at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts have moved back into the division's leading pack with a victory and a draw since the October international break, leapfrogging their visitors who saw a five-match unbeaten streak come to an end on Tuesday.

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-0 Exeter City

Exeter City have shown their quality in the early stages of the League One campaign, particularly at the back, but having rebuilt some momentum, Huddersfield Town should have enough to see their visitors off at the John Smith's Stadium.

Lincoln vs. Stockport (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala on August 10, 2024© Imago

Lincoln City and Stockport County meet at Sincil Bank on Saturday afternoon looking to end their poor form in the League One table.

These two teams have dropped down to 10th and ninth place respectively since the October international break having failed to win either match.

We say: Lincoln City 1-1 Stockport County

With Stockport unbeaten on their travels this season, they deserve respect ahead of this encounter. That leads us to back a low-scoring draw between two teams who will be eager to avoid falling further away from the playoffs.

Northampton vs. Crawley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two sides struggling at the bottom of the League One table will come together on Saturday afternoon when Northampton Town host Crawley Town at the Sixfields Stadium.

The hosts are 19th in the standings with 12 points from 11 matches, while the visitors are sitting in 21st with 10 points from their first 12 league fixtures.

We say: Northampton Town 2-1 Crawley Town

While Crawley did impress in their recent win, Northampton are in much better form heading into this game, and with them also boasting the home advantage, we expect the hosts to win here.

Looking to halt a three-game winless run in the third tier, Rotherham United will welcome Stevenage to the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon in League One.

The Millers suffered a narrow defeat on the road at Leyton Orient earlier this week, whilst the Boro experienced a difficult evening at home against relegation-threatened Cambridge United.

We say: Rotherham United 2-1 Stevenage

Rotherham have only dropped points against Wrexham during their last three home matches across all competitions, so we are expecting a competent performance from the Millers this weekend.

Stevenage's confidence would have taken a major hit following the midweek loss to Cambridge on home soil, meaning that we cannot envisage the Boro picking up anything tangible from their trip to South Yorkshire.

Shrewsbury vs. Barnsley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst pictured on April 1, 2024© Imago

Relegation-threatened Shrewsbury Town will welcome Barnsley to New Meadow for Saturday's League One encounter.

The hosts are languishing in the League One drop zone, while the visitors are currently sitting in eighth position.

We say: Shrewsbury Town 1-2 Barnsley

Shrewsbury will be low on confidence after losing nine of their 13 league games this season, and we think their difficult campaign will continue with a disappointing result at the weekend because we expect Barnsley to have the quality required to claim a narrow away victory.

Wycombe vs. Leyton Orient (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens during his side's League 1 match against Lincoln City, on October 5, 2024© Imago

In a potentially pivotal clash at both ends of the table, Wycombe Wanderers are set to host Leyton Orient at Adams Park in their 12th League One game of the season.

Wycombe are in third place with 23 points and are only five points from first-placed Birmingham City with a game in hand, while the visitors are fifth last with 11 points in 20th place and are only one place and one point above the relegation zone.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 3-0 Leyton Orient

Given the contrasting seasons so far for both sides, it is difficult to see how Leyton Orient can avoid defeat on Saturday.

If Wycombe were to score first, then it would not be surprising if they comfortably beat the visitors.
