Manchester United are believed to be interested in offloading Luke Shaw in return for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose in a possible £40m deal.
Rose, who recently returned for England following a knee injury, was not included in Spurs' squad for their 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Saturday.
United left-back Shaw was named on the bench for United's 4-1 win over Newcastle United, but has been denied the chance of a solid run in the team at Old Trafford.
The Mirror reports that Mourinho is plotting to offload Shaw as a makeweight in a £40m deal for Rose in the upcoming January transfer window.
The report also says that United would double Rose's current wage of £65,000 per week.
