Manchester United and Real Madrid are in direct competition to secure the services of Brazilian youngster Lucas.
The Mirror reports that the Red Devils have invited the 19-year-old's father to Old Trafford in the hope of bringing the midfield star to England.
Real are understood to have made a similar offer to the player's family in a bid to lure them to Spain.
The report claims that the midfielder stands a stronger chance of first-team football at Old Trafford, with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hoping this will influence his decision.
Lucas, who currently plays for Sao Paulo, has already been capped 11 times for his country and is rated at around £12m.
