Manchester United reportedly declared their interest in signing Sergio Ramos back in April.
Recent speculation has claimed that with United goalkeeper David de Gea expected to join Real Madrid shortly, the Red Devils have informed their Spanish counterparts that they want to receive Ramos as part of the deal.
However, according to Spanish publication AS, officials from the Premier League side sounded out Ramos's brother and agent - Rene - over a move to Old Trafford in a London hotel two months ago.
There have been suggestions that the centre-back's supposed unhappiness at the Bernabeu has an ulterior motive, with some media outlets having hinted that the 29-year-old is using United's interest to secure an improved contract.
Yet, the report adds that Ramos has decided to leave Los Blancos and has started to learn English in preparation for a switch to United.
