Tottenham Hotspur to consider Toby Alderweireld position?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering their stance on Toby Alderweireld, who is currently not seen as a first-choice pick by Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly weighed up the possibility of making themselves open to offers for Toby Alderweireld during the summer.

Alderweireld has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, but the Belgian international recently spent three months on the sidelines, and as it stands, finds himself behind Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old and according to the London Evening Standard, Spurs may be prepared to sell the player.

The North London outfit are in a position where they can extend Alderweireld's contract to 2020, but that would activate a release clause of just over £25m, a fee which would be met by interested clubs.

The player currently has just under 18 months on his existing deal and Spurs could potentially receive more money for the former Atletico Madrid man if they agree to part ways ahead of next season.

Alderweireld is likely to make just his second start since November 1 when Spurs face Rochdale in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday afternoon.
