Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer in the January transfer window.

The Lilywhites find themselves light in the centre-back department following the injury sustained to Micky van de Ven and suspension of Cristian Romero.

Van de Ven has seamlessly slotted into Ange Postecoglou's side since completing his £43m summer transfer from Wolfsburg, but the 22-year-old is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after pulling his hamstring in the 4-1 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday.

The Dutchman was unable to bear any weight on his right leg as he was supported off the pitch by medical staff just before half time, and Spurs are allegedly fearing that he could be ruled out for several months.

Romero, meanwhile, was shown a straight red card in the defeat to Chelsea and will subsequently serve a three-match ban, leaving Eric Dier and 18-year-old Ashley Phillips as the only other central defensive options at Postecoglou's disposal.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham hold an interest in Juventus' Bremer and would be willing to pay in excess of €40m (£34.8m) to sign the Brazilian in January.

The report adds that the 26-year-old could be tempted by a move to the Premier League having spent the last five years in Italy across spells with Juve and former club Torino.

Bremer swapped Torino for Juve in the summer of 2022 and has since made a total of 54 appearances in all competitions, establishing himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet under manager Massimiliano Allegri.

The Bahia-born centre-back has started all 11 of Juventus' Serie A fixtures this season, helping the club keep eight clean sheets and climb to second in the table.

Bremer still has four years remaining on his contract in Turin, but Juve could be forced to cash in on a few of their star players amid their financial concerns.

Spurs could therefore test the waters with an offer in January, although they may face competition from Premier League finals Chelsea and Manchester United, who have also been credited with an interest in the defender.

Bremer is expected to play for Juve in Saturday's Serie A clash with Cagliari before linking up with the Brazil squad for the upcoming international break ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.

The three-cap Brazil international is not the only defender believed to be on Tottenham's radar, as they have also been credited with an interest in Bournemouth's Lloyd Kelly and Aberdeen's Slobodan Rubezic.
