Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Harry Maguire is in line to make his debut for the club in next weekend's Premier League opener against Chelsea.
The Red Devils are yet to officially announce the centre-back as a new signing, but Solskjaer has revealed that the club are on the verge of completing a deal for the England international.
"Hopefully the last little details will be in place over the weekend and we can announce something very soon," the United boss told reporters when asked for an update on the Leicester City defender.
"Let's get the details over the line but yeah, [he could be in contention for Chelsea game]. He has played a few games in pre-season, we will have to assess him if and when."
United will reportedly pay Leicester £80m for the 26-year-old, which is a fee that will make the former Sheffield United youngster the most expensive defender in world football.
Maguire, who played a key role in England reaching the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, has made 76 appearances for the Foxes over the last two seasons.
United rounded off their preparations for the 2019-20 campaign with a penalty-shootout win over AC Milan in Cardiff on Saturday evening.
