Team manager Morgan De Sanctis has acknowledged that Roma want to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on a permanent basis.
While United have allowed the centre-back to spend the campaign at Stadio Olimpico, there is currently no option for Roma to keep the Englishman past the end of the season.
However, with Smalling having impressed during his early months in Italy, De Sanctis admits that Roma are prioritising further talks with United.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, De Sanctis said: "It is well known we are trying to find a solution that makes everyone happy.
"We are in no rush, we want to get this right, and can also rely on the player, who said he is happy at Roma."
The 30-year-old has made a total of 14 appearances for Roma in all competitions.
