Manchester United will offer Rio Ferdinand a new one-year deal, according to a report.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will be offered a new one-year deal at the club by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, according to a report.

The 34-year-old's contract is up at the end of the season but the United boss wants to keep the veteran defender at Old Trafford for at least another season, reports the Daily Mail

Ferdinand has struggled with injuries in recent years and pulled out of the England squad to face Montenegro and San Marino to see a back specialist.

The defender joined United in 2002 from Leeds United for £30m.
