Aston Villa want to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on a permanent deal this summer, according to a report.

Aston Villa reportedly want to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on a permanent deal.

The England Under-21 international spent time on loan with Villa during the 2017-18 campaign before returning to Villa Park last term, making 30 appearances in all competitions.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wants to have a close look at the 21-year-old during pre-season ahead of a potential first-team role with the Red Devils during the 2019-20 campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, though, Villa will fight hard to land the centre-back on a permanent deal, although the newly-promoted club are currently unsure whether United would be prepared to sell.

Tuanzebe, who came through the youth system at Old Trafford, has only made eight first-team appearances for his parent club.

Villa recently broke their transfer record to sign Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge following their promotion to the Premier League.
