Paul Pogba given permission to undergo Manchester United medical

Manchester United confirm that Paul Pogba is to undergo a medical before finalising his move from Juventus.

Manchester United have confirmed that Paul Pogba has been given permission by Juventus to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed record-breaking move.

The France international will join the Red Devils for a nine-figure sum should his tests at the club's training ground on Sunday prove successful.

Pogba was due to return to training with current side Juventus on Monday morning after returning from his prolonged summer break, granted after helping France to reach the final of Euro 2016.

It is believed that Pogba has flown into Britain to undergo a medical this afternoon, which could now see him feature in Jose Mourinho's first Premier League game in charge of the club against Bournemouth next weekend.

A United club statement read: "Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United."

Widespread reports in both the Italian and English press suggest that terms have already been agreed between player and club, while United are also thought to have settled on a transfer figure north of £100m with Juve.

The previous highest fee paid for a player came in 2013 when Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid for £85m - beating teammate Cristiano Ronaldo's record set four years prior when joining from United.

Pogba, who joined Italian giants Juventus in 2012 for a minimal fee after being allowed to leave by then-manager Sir Alex Ferguson, will become the Red Devils' fourth summer signing once putting pen to paper.
