Newcastle United join race for Arsenal youngster?

Newcastle United reportedly identify Arsenal youngster as a potential signing before the end of the January window.

Newcastle United have reportedly made a move for Arsenal youngster Alfie Matthews.

Having made an impression in the Gunners youth ranks this season, the forward is attracting interest from other Premier League clubs.

While Manchester United are said to have made an approach, Football Insider claims that Newcastle have now entered the race.

With the 18-year-old's deal due to expire in the summer, the Magpies are attempting to negotiate a transfer for later this month.

Matthews, who can play in all three positions in the final third, has contributed two goals from seven starts and three substitute outings this season.
