David Moyes confirms West Ham United have agreed to sign Manchester United's Harry Maguire and that Southampton's James Ward-Prowse is undergoing his medical.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that there is an agreement in place with Manchester United to sign centre-back Harry Maguire.

The Hammers had initially seen an opening bid of £20m rejected by the Red Devils, who were holding out for a fee between £40m and £50m.

However, a compromise has been reached and it was reported on Wednesday that West Ham had seen an improved offer in the region of £30m for Maguire accepted by Man United.

Personal terms are being discussed and the 30-year-old is believed to be open to making the move to the London Stadium despite suggestions earlier this summer that he was holding out for a 'bigger club'.

Man United have allegedly agreed to pay Maguire £6m to leave Old Trafford and join West Ham, where he is set to see his wages drop from £190,000 a week to £120,000 a week.

Moyes has earmarked Maguire as one of his top defensive targets ahead of the new season, and the Scotsman has now revealed that both clubs have reached an agreement over a transfer fee.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday ahead of West Ham's Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Saturday, Moyes said: "We've had a bit accepted from Manchester United, but while he's not our player I'm not in position to discuss him, really."

Maguire's proposed move to West Ham is not thought to be imminent as Man United manager Erik ten Hag is expecting the defender to be available for selection in Monday's Premier League clash at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The England international is not expected to feature, though, as Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Maguire started just eight Premier League games for the Red Devils last season and has been strongly tipped to leave Old Trafford since losing his regular starting place under Ten Hag.

The centre-back, who was stripped of the Man United captaincy earlier this summer, will hope to gain regular first-team football at West Ham in a bid to retain his place in Gareth Southgate's England plans ahead of Euro 2024.

Maguire is not the only player set to link up with the Hammers this summer, as Moyes has also confirmed that midfielder James Ward-Prowse is undergoing his medical ahead of completing a £30m transfer from Southampton.

"James Ward-Prowse is having a medical just now. We've agreed a fee but it's not right I speak about him as he's not yet our player," Moyes told reporters.

Ward-Prowse is set to become the second midfielder to make the move to the London Stadium this summer after the arrival of Edson Alvarez from Ajax on Thursday.

The 28-year-old has spent his entire senior career at boyhood club Southampton, scoring 54 goals and providing 53 assists in 408 appearances across all tournaments since and including his debut back in 2011.
