Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that the world-record deal taking Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain could cause problems for the transfer market.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Neymar's likely move to Paris Saint-Germain will have ramifications for the transfer market.

On Wednesday, Barcelona confirmed that the Brazilian had expressed a desire to leave Camp Nou and PSG are willing to meet the forward's £198.6m release clause.

However, while Mourinho insists that Neymar represents value for money, he feels that there will now be problems for the rest of Europe when they look to make a major signing.

The 54-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "For £200m I don't think he is expensive. I think he is expensive in the fact that now you are going to have more players at £100m, you are going have more players at £80m and more players at £60m. I think that's the problem.

"Neymar is one of the best players in the world, commercially he is very strong and for sure Paris Saint-Germain thought about it. So I think the problem is not Neymar, I think the problem is the consequences of Neymar."

United have allegedly held an interest in the 25-year-old in the past, but the parties failed to come to an agreement.
