A report claims that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is scouring the market for a left-back to provide cover for Luke Shaw.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new left-back to rival Luke Shaw, according to a report.

The Red Devils boss is said to be after a back-up option to cover for Shaw, who has become a regular at the back after winning over the Portuguese with his early-season displays.

Shaw signed a five-year deal worth £190,000 a week at Old Trafford earlier this month, ensuring that United are covered in that position for the foreseeable future.

The Sun suggests that Mourinho is keen to strengthen, however, having had to rely on the likes of Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young to fill in.

Barcelona's Jordi Alba is said to have been on United's radar in the summer, but his £133m price tag means that they will look elsewhere for a cheaper option.
