Alvaro Morata has reportedly moved a step close to joining Manchester United following talks between his representatives and the Real Madrid hierarchy on Monday afternoon.
The Spain international is said to be holding out for a switch to Old Trafford this summer after growing unhappy with his bit-part role last season.
It was claimed last month that United had a £52m bid knocked back for the 24-year-old, with Madrid valuing him close to the £70m mark.
Sky Sports News reports that a transfer is still alive, however, as Morata's agent Juanma Lopez and father Alfonso Morata were present at the Bernabeu on Monday to hold a 50-minute long discussion with Madrid chiefs.
Morata recently returned from his honeymoon ahead of schedule to help finalise a switch, but it could still be some time before an agreement is reached between all three parties.
United have also been linked with Romelu Lukaku and Andrea Belotti this summer, as they seek a replacement for recently-departed striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
