Roberto Martinez: 'Manchester United are wasting their time'

Everton boss Roberto Martinez claims that Manchester United's double bid for Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini was a "waste of time".

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that Manchester United's bid for Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini was a "waste of time".

The Premier League champions made a combined offer of £28m for the pair on Monday.

However, the Toffees were quick to issue a statement describing the bid as "derisory and insulting".

"It's been well-documented what happened with the transfer speculation," Sky Sports News quotes Martinez as saying.

"That's been dealt with and it was all a little bit of a waste of time, time I don't want the players to waste."

United are expected to return with an improved offer for the duo before the end of the transfer window.
