Manchester United line up a summer move for Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a summer move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Red Devils remain in discussions with current number one David de Gea over a new contract, with the Spaniard's terms at Old Trafford due to expire at the end of the month.

Man United will definitely be in the market for at least one goalkeeper this summer regardless of De Gea's future, though, as Tom Heaton is set to leave on a free transfer, while Jack Butland, who was the number three in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, has completed a permanent move to Rangers.

According to The Sun, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag views Pickford as the ideal signing this summer, with the England international potentially being brought in to rival De Gea between the sticks.

The report claims that Everton could be willing to sell the stopper for a fee in the region of £30m, which Man United would be prepared to pay for the 29-year-old.

Pickford has been with the Toffees since 2017, making 237 appearances in all competitions since his switch from Sunderland, keeping 62 clean sheets in the process.

England's number one has featured on 248 occasions in the Premier League during his professional career, meanwhile, with the majority of those outings coming during his time at Everton.

Pickford, who is also being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, signed a new contract extension at Goodison Park in January, with his current deal running until June 2027.

However, Everton are allegedly in need of a financial boost this summer, which has made them open to letting their first-choice goalkeeper to leave for the right price.

Pickford featured on 38 occasions for the Toffees during the 2022-23 campaign, with 37 of those appearances coming in the Premier League, but he only managed to keep eight clean sheets.

Porto's Diogo Costa is also being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Ten Hag seemingly looking to bring in a new number one this summer.

De Gea won the Golden Glove for the 2022-23 Premier League campaign, keeping 17 clean sheets in 38 appearances in the competition.

The Spaniard kept 25 clean sheets in all competitions last term, meanwhile, but some high-profile efforts, notably against Sevilla and West Ham United, have led to suggestions that the 32-year-old faces a battle to keep hold of his number one spot if he signs a new deal this summer.
