Manchester United 'to subsidise Alexis Sanchez wages in Inter Milan loan'

Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay £12m just to get Alexis Sanchez temporarily off their books for next season as Inter Milan line up a year-long loan deal.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay half of Alexis Sanchez's £500,000-per-week wages in order to ship the forward out on loan next season.

Sanchez has endured a torrid time at Old Trafford since joining from Arsenal in January 2018, with form and fitness limiting him to just five goals in 45 appearances for the club across all competitions.

United are expected to undergo a substantial overhaul of their squad this summer following a hugely disappointing campaign, and Sanchez is one of their priorities for the exit door having scored only one Premier League goal all season.

Both Inter Milan and Juventus are understood to be interested in the 30-year-old, but his wages are proving to be a major sticking point in any negotiations.

The Mirror reports that United are therefore willing to subsidise half of his salary during a one-year loan, effectively meaning that they would be paying £12m just to get Sanchez temporarily off their books.

The Chile international is one of a number of high-profile players who could be discarded by the club this summer, along with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.

Sanchez is the most costly player at Old Trafford, though, having penned a four-and-a-half-year deal on the most lucrative terms in the club's history upon his arrival.
